Choosing the right therapist for you or your child is an important decision, and we're here to help make that process easier. We offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation for clients, parents and caregivers to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and learn more about our services before booking an initial assessment.
During this consultation, you can share what you or your child, youth or family has been experiencing, discuss your goals for therapy, and determine whether Horizon Wellness Collective is the right fit for your family. We'll also explain our therapeutic approach, answer questions about the intake process, and recommend the services that best meet your child's needs.
Consultations are available by phone, or virtually, giving you the flexibility to connect in the way that works best for your family. There is no obligation to book after the consultation - we simply want to ensure you feel informed, supported, and confident in your next steps.
-
Our Initial Assessment is the first step in getting to know you, your child, youth, or family and build understanding of what brings your family to therapy. During this 50-minute session, we take the time to learn about strengths, challenges, developmental history, relationships, and goals for therapy.
We also explore any emotional, behavioural, social, or mental health concerns while providing a safe, welcoming space for both caregivers and clients to share their experiences. Depending on the age and comfort level of the child or youth, part of the session may include individual time with the therapist.
Following the assessment, we'll work collaboratively with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that reflects your family's unique needs and goals. We believe every child deserves care that is compassionate, evidence-informed, and tailored to their individual journey.
-
Individual therapy provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space where clients explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the guidance of a compassionate therapist.
Using evidence-informed approaches tailored to each client's age, strengths, and goals, we help individuals build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, strengthen self-esteem, and develop healthy strategies for navigating life's challenges. Sessions may incorporate talk therapy, play-based interventions, creative activities, mindfulness, or other therapeutic techniques depending on the client's developmental needs and preferences.
Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, behavioural concerns, grief, trauma, school-related challenges, life transitions, or difficulties with relationships, we work collaboratively to support meaningful growth and lasting resilience.
-
Family therapy provides a supportive space for families to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and work through challenges together. Guided by one of our therapists, sessions focus on understanding each family member's perspective while building healthier patterns of connection, trust, and problem-solving.
Family therapy can be helpful when navigating behavioural concerns, conflict, anxiety, life transitions, grief, trauma, parenting challenges, separation or divorce, sibling relationships, and other situations that affect the family as a whole. Our therapists use evidence-informed, family-centred approaches that recognize the unique strengths, values, and goals of each family.
Sessions are available in 50-minute or 80-minute formats. The 50-minute session is ideal for ongoing therapeutic support and regular check-ins, while the 80-minute session allows additional time to explore more complex concerns, involve multiple family members, or work through challenging conversations without feeling rushed.
